Angry people have vandalized a training school in Dedza district. The people have done this over land disputes.
The vandalized school is Chongoni Lay Training Centre belonging to the CCAP’s Nkhoma Synod. Reverend Vasco kachipapa, the Secretary General of the synod has confirmed the development.
According to Kachipapa, the synod is planning to develop the area which is part of the church’s campus. However some people were using the land belonging to the synod for farming. This led to the misunderstanding between the two parties.
The synod went to resolve the differences and negotiations between the church and chiefs in the area were fruitful. www.avantmalawi.com has established that when the negotiations were over, it was when later it was reported that some people went into the campus and started vandalizing the director’s house and other infrastructures.
Reverend Kachipapa however said that details of the damage will be told later after assessing the situation.
