Kawale Police through its lower formation of Area 24 Police Unit is keeping two individuals over possession of medical equipments believed to be acquired from Government Hospitals through illegal means.
The Duo, identified as Magdalena Paulo, 52, a Heath Suiverance Assistant (HSA) at Biwi Heath Center, and Esther Abison, 51, got arrested on January 28, 2026.
Area 24 detectives uncovered the syndicate after being tipped by well wishers who got suspicious on Esther Abison’s keeping cartons of medical equipments.
Following the tipp-off police arrested the the said suspect at her house in Area 22 A, and immediately a follow-up was made to the source leading to the arrest of second suspect Magdalene Paulo who works at Biwi Heath facility as HSA..
During the search, Area 24 detectives found 5 cartons of HIV self testing equipments, which according to police investigations are said to have been brought by Magdalene Paulo who works at the said Heath facility.
Meanwhile, Kawale Police has seized the medical devices while the two suspects are in custody and will appear before court after paperwork.
Magdalene Paulo hails from Lomani Village Traditional Authority Chadza While Esther Abison comes from Bauleni Village Traditional Authority Chiseka both from Lilongwe District .
