The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has urged football clubs and match officials to take precautionary measures during matches amid high temperatures being experienced across the country.
In a media release dated 23 October 2026, FAM has advised clubs to provide cooling breaks during both halves of matches, preferably around the 25th and 70th minutes, depending on weather conditions.
The association has also urged clubs to ensure the availability of sufficient drinking water for players and technical officials before, during and after matches to prevent dehydration.
FAM further called on match organisers to ensure that medical personnel and first aid facilities are available to respond to emergencies related to the hot weather.

The association has emphasised that the safety and well-being of players, match officials and supporters must remain a priority during the period of high temperatures.
FAM has since urged clubs, match commissioners and referees to work together in implementing the precautionary measures to safeguard everyone involved in football activities.
