Oc Mwamkili for tight security, calls for community feedback

The Officer In-Charge for Kawale Police Station Mr Devlin Mwamkili Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) on January 30,2026 engaged Area 24 chiefs and block leaders to enhance security by joining law enforcers in this cause.The call was made during his familiarization tour in the area.

OC Mwamkili lamented the insurgency of robbery cases going by December crime record.He therefore called upon chiefs to take an active role in halting crime.

In his key note address, Mr Mwamkili OC highlighted the thin layer that exist between chiefs and police in security matters, he therefore urged chiefs to rise above the bar in security matters which will help in crime combat at grassroots.

Said Mwamkili.” Chiefs are custodian of both criminal minded individuals and good citizens, therefore there is need to tighten security through security initiatives, have Community Policing Forums (CPF) in your areas that will help creating a hostile environment to criminals”

Additionally, Mr Mwamkili (DCP) tipped chiefs to bring forward any feedback whether negative or positive on police performance citing that this helps us towards improvement in our service delivery.

Mr Devlin Mwamkili DCP, tackled various hard pressing issues like police bail, professional conduct by police officers, suicide cases, and development at unit level.

The Station Criminal Investigations Officer (SCIO) Inspector Gift Mwahala further asked chiefs to improve on information sharing stating that this helps in bringing awareness of crime occurrence and subsequently speeding up the process of investigations.

Inspector Gift Mwahala promised of new beginning and he therefore asked for their continued support in crime fight.

The local leaders praised OC Devlin Mwamkili and his new management team for the tour.

Speaking on behalf of other chiefs,Group Village Headman Ntcheu who is one of the local leaders within Mtsinje location promised their total support.

In attendance were Kawale Station Officer (SO) Supritendent Gladys Chiwaula , and 107 Chiefs.
