Minister of Education in conjunction with MANEB addressed the nation today, 1 April 2021 to give results for MSCE results.
Professor Al Mtenje, Board Chairman for MANEB says the readministeration of MSCE was daunting task as they had to tighten the process to have a free and fair examinations.
According to Mtenje, the readministered examination were credible for all students.
The Minister of Education observes that this is the first time Malawi has administered a cheat-free and leakage-free examination.
On a different not, Nyalonje says it is disheartening though that out of 26,000 teachers needed in the country’s public secondary schools, the country has less than 15,000.
Nampota says out of 138 310 candidates, 57 293 have passed representing 41.42%
Minister of Education Agness NyaLonje says the pass rate is the lowest in a decade due to a number of factors:
- The Covid-19 induced closure of schools which led to the shifting of the exams from July to October 2020.
- Cancellation of the exams from October 2020 to January 2021 due to massive leakage.
- Strict controls and security during the exams.
She says the results should give the country a lesson.
Maneb has urged all candidates with queries to present them by April 30, 2021; warning that no one will be entertained after that date.
