Avantmalawi has established that the World Bank representatives have proposed to revamp Chomboto Scheme, along Chinyanje River, in the area of Senior Traditional Authority Mlolo (Nsanje North constituency), Nsanje District.
The scheme which is beneficial to villagers in rice cultivation has been listed to receive financial assistance from World Bank.
As it is, the scheme will be able to produce rice that will benefit thousands of households and the excess will be exported outside the country to help in growing the GDP.
In his remarks the District Commissioner for Nsanje Dr. Medson Matchaya welcomed World Bankβs proposal to revamp the scheme.
In his words, DC Matchaya emphasized and encouraged the local communities to work as a team as the revamping is underway.
Ushering the visitation were among others Hon Enock Chizuzu (MP for Nsanje North), representative for Traditional Authority Mlolo, the councillor for Nsanje North ward (Rose Makiyi) and other dignified people.

The revamping exercise is set to start in July, this year.
In his remarks, Hon Chizuzu appreciated the world Bank for the project that will be beneficial to thousands. He urged the District Commissioner and the world Bank to prioritize Nsanje North and East Bank Road in the upcoming developments as well as rehabilitating Sankhulani water project that will provide tapped water to people living in Osiyana and neighbouring villages.
Hon Chizuzu believes that by extending dykes at Namfafa and Thangadzi river will save almost 14 villages, more that two thousand people including Muona Health centre and Muona full primary school from floods.
