NICO Group has applauded Ascent Soccer Academy girls for securing a place in the final of the Icelandic International Cup after defeating their semi-final opponents 2-0 to set up a blockbuster clash against German giants Bayern Munich.
The highly anticipated final will be played on Monday at the Icelandic National Stadium, where the Malawian side will aim to crown an impressive campaign with the championship title. The academy’s boys’ team will also be in action as they face Icelandic outfit Selfoss in their final.
The achievement marks another significant milestone for Ascent Soccer Academy, whose teams have continued to impress on the international stage while showcasing the quality of Malawi’s emerging football talent.
NICO Group Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, Taweni Gondwe Xaba, described the girls’ qualification for the final as a proud moment for both the academy and the country.
She said earning the opportunity to face Bayern Munich, one of the world’s biggest football clubs, demonstrates the players’ remarkable progress, resilience, and potential to compete against elite international opposition.
