WOMAN NABBED FOR CONCEALING BIRTH WITH INTENTION TO COMMIT A CRIME

Police in Chikwawa are keeping in custody a 23-year-old woman, Idah Chimwanga, on suspicion of concealing the birth of her newborn baby girl with the intention to commit a crime.

Police Publicist for the district, Dickson Matemba, said on 12 December, people in Sadulo Village in the area of Traditional Authority Katunga became suspicious of her appearance after nine months of her pregnancy.

“The villagers conducted a search in her house where the newly born child was discovered lifeless and hidden in a pail covered with clothes,” he said.

The suspect is currently admitted to Chikwawa District Hospital where after being discharged, is expected to answer criminal charges

Chimwanga comes from Horesi Village in the area of Traditional Authority Thomas in Thyolo District.
