A 15 year-old boy identified as lbrahim Mateyu has died after hanging himself with a rope to a roof of his father’s house after being accused of impregnating a girl.
The incident occurred on the morning of August 24, 2021 at Chipalamawamba Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi.
According to the father, Mussah Mateyu, 63, his son Ibrahim who was a pupil at St. Augustine 3 Primary School was accused to have impregnated a fellow teenager who were neighbors.
Although he denied responsibility, the teenage girl insisted that Ibrahim was responsible for her pregnancy.
On that fateful day during morning hours, the father found his son lifeless as he returned from his night shift guard duties.
The matter was reported at Mangochi Police who rushed to the scene and took the dead body to Mangochi District Hospital where suffocation has been indicated as the cause of death.
Police are therefore appealing to the public to refrain from taking their own lives whenever they face challenges in life. They should rather seek counselling or share issues to colleagues.
Ibrahim hailed from Chipalamawamba Village Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi.
