OC Mwamkili chides officers on professionalism,and partisanship

The Officer-In-Charge for Kawale Police Station, Mr Devlin Mwamkili Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) on December 24, 2025 visited Area 24 Police Unit, one of Kawale’s lower formation where he urged officers in upholding police standards, love and being apolitical.

In his key note address, Mr Devlin Mwamkili OC stressed much on professionalism, which encompasses observing police standards as stipulated in the Service Standing Orders (SSO), dedication to duty calls by among others, refraining from absentism, observing punctuality and smartness at all times.He cited that any deviation to these compromises Police work

Mr Devlin Mwamkili (DCP) warned officers against infringement of suspects fundamental rights and those who sought police services.

“Let’s avoid unnecessary complaints against us, observe the 48-hour-rule,and never infringe the fundamental rights of suspects at all costs” Said Mwamkili.

Mr Devlin Mwamkili (DCP) further advised Area 24 police officers to avoid active participation in politics and usage of politicians to get promotions.

The OC for Area 24 Police Unit, Senior Supritendent Edna Nthete welcomed the Officer In-Charge, laid the foundation of the meeting highlighting the challenges faced at the Unit.

The platform was given where officers had to voice their worries including promotion creteria which the OC promised to address those within his mandate and facilitate others to high command at an opportune time.

In conclusion, the OC promised of his full support towards any activity done at the Unit that will help in crime crackdown, promote love by being involved in welfare activities
