In a shear display of service and replication of Police required standards in security provision, the Station Officer (SO) Senior Supritendent Gladys Chiwaula on March 13, 2026 joined front line duties not only to patrol as police but to set a blueprint for neighborhood watch members to follow.
Despite her usual busy office schedule, the Station Officer (SO) Senior Supritendent Gladys Chiwaula conducted night patrols within Kawale Policing area with a target to appreciate and impart some tips to security stakeholders at grassroots.
During her night patrol encounter, she met and joined patrols with Glitters neighborhood watch members. She encouraged them to be in reflective vests, refrain from theft involvement, avoid torturing suspected individuals and be always in touch with police officers on ground.
Said Chiwaula, “Let’s maintain standards that you got during orientation for our teams to be meaningful, effective and meet the expectations of the community we serve, don’t be thieves in reflectors police will not shield you”
She however, noted some challenges faced by the teams that includes shortage of reflective vests and other working material like whistles and torches which she promised to find mechanisms to address the shortfalls.
Senior Supritendent Gladys Chiwaula further promised of continued joint patrols with neighborhood watch members so that the tempo is kept on high.
On the other part Senior Supritendent Gladys Chiwaula advised police vehicle patrol teams to interact with these teams at intervals whenever they do meet in line of duty.
Speaking on behalf of his fellow members Emmanuel Nsanjama expressed his profound gratitude to Kawale Police for their usual support and added that being joined by police officers to them is a morale booster and a sign that they are not alone in this security assignment. And he promised to maintain the levels of operations with what they saw as lessons that can not be erased.
