KARONGA UNITED FC KICKS OFF HISTORIC COMMERCIALISATION ERA

Karonga United FC is edging closer to the final whistle of its ambitious commercialisation drive, marking a decisive shift in the club’s structural and operational blueprint.

The transformation is anchored in the club’s determination to strengthen managerial efficiency and fully comply with modern club licensing demands. Management views commercialisation as a strategic evolution designed to enhance sustainability, competitiveness, and corporate governance.

Addressing the media on Sunday, 15 February 2026, in Mzuzu, Chairperson Alufeyo Deacon Chipanga Banda confirmed that key frameworks have already been put in place, with the process now approaching its decisive phase.

Chipanga emphasised that the transition is progressing smoothly and deliberately. He noted that supporters and stakeholders should anticipate significant adjustments within the club’s administrative portfolios as part of the restructuring exercise.

He further revealed that the initiative is being steered by the club’s legal counsel, Hadrod Mkandawire, whose guidance is ensuring that the shift aligns with regulatory standards and long-term strategic goals.

Once completed, Karonga United FC will become the first club in the Northern Region to fully embrace commercialisation, a landmark development that could set a new administrative benchmark in regional football.

The move is expected to unlock fresh investment opportunities, enhance accountability, and position the club as a modern football institution operating on professional corporate principles.

In a related development, the chairperson also confirmed the acquisition of Adrow Makonyola as the head coach of Karonga United FC. He has signed a two-year contract, adding fresh energy to the squad as the club prepares to navigate this new era both on and off the pitch.
