The NBS Bank National Division League returns to action this weekend, with Mzuzu City Hammers bracing for a heavyweight showdown against league leaders Songwe Border United FC at Rumphi Stadium.
It is a fixture carrying plenty of stakes, as the third-placed Hammers welcome the table-toppers in what promises to be a fiercely contested battle for maximum points.
For Mzuzu City Hammers head coach Chisomo Kamulanje, Saturday’s encounter is more than just another league fixture, it is an opportunity to settle the score after his side suffered a narrow 1–0 defeat to Songwe Border United in the first round.

“Although we lost 1–0 to Songwe Border United at their home in the first round, we controlled the game well. We were just unlucky to lose that match, but definitely, this time we will win the game,” said Kamulanje.
Kamulanje believes the Hammers have learned from the first-round setback and are ready to come out firing, with the coach demanding a stronger response when the two sides meet again.
The Hammers gaffer has also made his ambitions clear, insisting that his charges are targeting a strong finish at the summit and cannot afford to drop points in crucial fixtures such as this one.
“We want to finish the league on top, and these are very important games for us to correct the points we lost,” added Kamulanje.
Mzuzu City Hammers currently sit third on the log with 24 points from 13 matches, while Songwe Border United FC lead the championship race with 31 points from 13 games, setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown in Rumphi.
