CENTRE FOR SOCIAL CONCERN SATISFY MANGOCHI DISTRICT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Barely just a day after briefing the Mangochi based Civil Society Organisations the concept note of a new project,the Centre for Social Concern (CfSC) on thursday took the project concept to Mangochi District Executive Committee (DEC) for acknowledgment.

The meeting was held at Mangochi town council on 28th October, 2022.

The aim of the meeting was to share the project concept note and expectations as far as facilitation evidence-based advocacy activities for improved transparency and accountability on public finance Management is concerned and even also to strengthen the capacity of citizens and civil society organizations to demand transparency and accountability in public finance management to District Executive Committee.

Commenting on behalf of DEC chair, Mr Kanyimbo said that this project has been welcomed to the district “We, as a DEC members are extremely excited about this project which is finally to take off. These developments are vital in ensuring that the people’s lives within the catchment areas improve for the better,These are multi-million Kwacha projects and it will therefore be imperative that after completion they must come back and report to DEC for it’s successes” said Kanyimbo.

Speaking during his presentation, Bernard Mpepo,the centre’s programme officer said that the project is all about building COVID-19 resilience through promoting transparency and accountability in public finance management for reduced poverty and inequality as ultimate expectation.

Mphepo told DEC members that the desire of CfSC is to see empowered citizens who can demand answers from duty-bearers on issues bordering on public financing is being carried in transparency and accountability manner. He further said that their expectations is see improvement in access to social services,access to good health and Education facilities without politicizing government plans.

The project is expected run up to December 2021 with an optional of extension
