In preparations to the coming by-elections for Karonga Central Constiuency, UTM set up primaries elections for its aspiring candidate namely Frank Tumpale Mwenefumbo and Marry Nthakomwa.
Surprisingly Mary Nthakomwa withdrew her candidature to Frank Tumpale Mwenefumbo who was once running mate to UDF’s Atupere Muluzi during the 2019’s nullified tripartite elections.
Nthakomwa said she has decided to quit the primaries because she was not comfortable with the venue.
Adding that the place was too risky for her to participate as it smelt violence.
Her contestant, Mwenefumbo dumped UDF and returned to AFORD, just before the Fresh Elections, but later he formally joined UTM and presented his interest to participate on the Parliamentary race the constituency.
As if that was not enough, Mwenefumbo has challenged odds and ascended to become the only aspiring parliamentary to represent UTM without any primary Elections.
The party was supposed to hold primary Elections at Mwenilondo Primary school just before Nthakomwa issued her statement days ago that disregarded the fact that she represented the party in 2019 Elections.
UTM NEC has therefore declared Mwenefumbo their candidate for the area during the coming by-elections.
