In the past 24 hours, Malawi has registered eleven
new COVID-19 cases, two new recoveries, and no
new deaths. Seven of the new cases are locally
transmitted infections:
four from Blantyre Health District and three from
Lilongwe Health District. Four of the new cases are
imported infections: two were identified at Mwanza
border and these are residents of Blantyre and
Machinga Health Districts, one is a new arrival at
Dzaleka
Refugee Camp in Dowa Health District, and one is a
resident of Nkhata Bay Health District who recently
arrived in the country from South Africa.
Cumulatively, Malawi has recorded 6,091 cases
including 187 deaths. Of these cases, 1,192 are
imported infections and 4,899 are locally
transmitted. Cumulatively, 5,661 cases have now
recovered, 106 were lost to follow-up, and 76 are
still being investigated to ascertain their outcome.
This brings the total number of active cases to 61.
