FAM 2025 Budget Hike by 50%

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced a K11.6 billion budget for 2025, an increase from K7.5 billion.

Of this amount, K8.2 billion will be allocated to the national football teams.

The details were disclosed during a financial planning meeting held over the weekend at the Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.

Additionally, FAM revealed an increase in financial support for its ten affiliate associations, raising funding from K20 million to K30 million.

FAM President Fleetwood Haiya emphasized that their main focus will be on developing grassroots football.

Specific allocations include K700 million from CAF, K3.4 billion from the Malawi Government, and K3 billion from FIFA projects. Additional funds will come from FIFA Forward operations, sponsorship deals, replica merchandise sales, and other FAM business ventures.

Speaking during the meeting, FAM President Fleetwood Haiya emphasized that the budget aligns with the first year of the association’s 2024–2034 strategic plan. The focus will be on youth football development and ensuring the active participation of national teams.

“All our national teams will be in action next year, with the Women’s National Team returning to the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as a major highlight,” Haiya said.
