The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has granted full club licenses to eleven teams ahead of the 2025–2026 Super League season. This decision follows a thorough review conducted by the Club Licensing First Instant Body (FIB) on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
The review aimed to ensure all teams meet the necessary standards set under FAM’s club licensing system. These standards cover areas such as infrastructure, administration, finance, legal matters, and youth development.
FAM’s Club Licensing Manager, Clement Kafwafwa, confirmed that only eleven teams managed to meet all the requirements needed for full licensing approval.
The clubs that have successfully secured full licenses are: Blue Eagles, Creck Sporting, Sporting Club, Dedza Dynamos FC, Kamuzu Barracks, MAFCO, Ekhaya FC, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC, Moyale Barracks FC, Mighty Wanderers FC, Mzuzu City Hammers FC, and Silver Strikers FC.
However, Kafwafwa revealed that five clubs failed to meet all six criteria required for full licensing. These teams will be allowed to compete but under certain conditions and penalties.
The clubs that did not meet full licensing requirements are Mighty Tigers FC, Karonga United FC, Songwe Border United FC, Chitipa United FC, and Civil Service United FC.
According to FAM, these five clubs will be issued provisional licenses with sanctions. They are required to address the deficiencies and fully comply with the set standards.
Failure to meet the requirements in time will lead to point deductions. Initially, four points will be deducted from their league standings, followed by an additional deduction of three points for every month they fail to comply.
