The National Organisation of Nurses and Midwives (NONM) Students Chapter is set to hold a fundraising Big Walk in Mzuzu this weekend, with the initiative aimed at supporting needy nursing and midwifery students.

The fundraising activity has been organised as part of efforts to respond to financial challenges affecting some students and provide them with much-needed assistance to continue with their studies.

The Big Walk will start at St John Institute before passing through Mzuzu University and proceeding to St John of God, where the event will conclude.

Speaking on the preparations, NONM Students Chapter President Idah Msimuko said the organising team is making good progress and is almost ready for the event.

Msimuko said a number of prominent individuals have been invited to participate in the activity as the organisation seeks wider support for the cause.

Among the invited guests is Mzimba Central Constituency Member of Parliament, Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba, who is expected to attend the event as guest of honour.

NONM is targeting to raise enough resources through the Big Walk to support at least 20 needy students, with organisers calling on well-wishers to support the initiative.
