Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has agreed his new £100,000 a week contract.

The 23-year-old has been in training at Carrington ahead of his call-up to the England squad on Tuesday and United have taken the opportunity to accelerate talks over a new long-term deal.

They want to reward his progress after a stand-out season on loan at Sheffield United and tie him down to the club ahead of the new season.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like Henderson to compete with David de Gea for the number one position but has still to discuss fully what opportunities he can afford to give the young goalkeeper.

Henderson wants to continue his career momentum and play regularly, so question marks remain around spending this coming season competing with de Gea, who is on £360,000 a week, even though they will have the rigours of Champions League football to contend with.
