Chitipa united maintains clean sheet

Super League leaders Silver Strikers FC have stumbled and failed to extend the lead to six points after drawing against Chitipa United at Civo Stadium.

A win for Silver would have meant a buffer of six points for the Bankers after Nyasa Big Bullets were were held to a goalless draw at Kamuzu Stadium by Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

Fans witnessed a bizarre scene during the goalless encounter at Civo Stadium. A fan jumped the fence and without being apprehended by security entered the pitch targeting Chitipa United goal, bent down and poured some liquid across the goal. The whole incident took about two minutes.

In an end-to-end match, De Jongh’s side were off to a flying start as Mark Fodya blazed his effort over from the free-kick before the visitors curved Silver’s defence to win the corner that was well delt with by Nixon Mwase-led defence

Silver have 25 points, Bullets 22 and Wanderers are third on 19 points.

Chitipa are fourth with 17 points.

In other matches Red Lions beat Karonga United 2-1.

Extreme United woes continued after losing 2-0 to Moyale FC away.

Following the draw, Silver Strikers will remain in top with 25 points from 11 games while Chitipa United have 17 points from the same number of games.

Extreme are still bottom on the table with five points. Red Lions are second from the bottom on eight points.
