A male passenger identified as Hardson Nyirenda 34, has died while three others including the driver have escaped with minor injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned at Mgalalamuka graveyard in Lumbadzi.
According to Lumbadzi Police Spokesperson Sergeant Felix Kwinyani, the accident occurred on Wednesday morning June 28, 2023.
Kwinyani said: “The motor vehicle Nissan Tilda registration number TO 569 was being driven by Mussa Bulamu and was coming from Dowa turn off heading towards Lumbadzi trading centre with three passengers on board.
“Upon arrival at the said graveyard which is near Mkukula Primary school, Mussa failed to control the vehicle due to over speeding and vehicle and swerved to the extreme offside of the road where it overturned.”
He added that following the impact, Nyirenda (now deceased) sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Lumbadzi Health Centre.
Hardson Nyirenda (the deceased) 34 hailed from Chidongo village, Traditional authority Kawamba in Kasungu.
Meanwhile, police are reminding all road users to adhere to road signs and regulations to avoid accidents and further advising passengers to use passengers service vehicles with red number plates.
