MOTAL ENGIL FAILS GOVERNMENT OVER AND OVER

People in Nsanje have lashed out at government for failure to exert pressure on a contractor to finish a K27 billion Thyolo- Thekerani- Muona road project.

The delay in completion makes travelling a nightmare for people of Fatima, Makhanga and Bangula among other areas who cross Shire and Ruo rivers by boats due to the absence of bridges, risking their lives in the process.

Initially, the 82-kilometer road project was due for completion by August 14, 2019 but was later extended to October 21, 2020 which the contractor Motal Engil, missed.

Ministry of Transport Public Relations Officer, Andrew Mthiko, blames the delay on rains which apparently forced the contractor to demobilize.
