NRVL ELECTION RACE HEATS UP AFTER ALLEGED NOMINATION LEAK

By Staff Reporter

The Northern Region Volleyball League (NRVL) executive elections have taken a fresh twist following allegations that information about the nominations was shared in a group just a day after the nomination process closed.

The controversy centres on an alleged disclosure by a member of the Ad Hoc Committee overseeing the elections, who reportedly revealed that Joseph Mphande and Francis Trueman Banda will contest for the position of General Secretary.

The alleged leak has raised questions about the conduct of the electoral process, with some individuals reportedly questioning whether members of the Independent Electoral Commission are maintaining the expected neutrality in the exercise.

Meanwhile, political manoeuvres are said to be gathering momentum around a proposed leadership arrangement involving the current Zone D executive, with several names emerging in discussions about the composition of the regional executive committee.

Under the reported arrangement, Khwima, the current Zone D Chairperson, is being tipped for the NRVL chairmanship, while Francis Trueman Banda is linked to the General Secretary position and Phillip, the current Zone D General Secretary, is reportedly being considered for Treasurer.

However, allegations that members of the Ad Hoc Committee could be backing the proposed arrangement have added another layer of intrigue to the unfolding election saga. These claims remain unverified, and no official confirmation has been provided regarding the alleged endorsements.

As the contest gathers pace, another camp is reportedly consolidating support behind a prominent figure whose identity has yet to be publicly disclosed, setting the stage for what could become a fiercely contested battle for control of the regional volleyball governing body.

Efforts to obtain an official response from the Ad Hoc Committee were still ongoing at the time of publication. With questions surrounding the alleged leak and competing leadership ambitions, the NRVL elections continue to attract attention as stakeholders await further developments.
