SLAPPED 20YEAR IN JAIL WITH HARD LABOR FOR DEFILING A MINOR

The Senior Resident Magistrate’s Court in Mzimba has sentenced 2 men to 20 years Imprisonment with Hard Labour for defiling a 15-year-old girl at Jenda Trading Centre.

The two have been identified as Sopani Nyirongo aged 23 and Ephraim Wilima aged 22.

According to Maurice Chapola, Northern region police deputy spokesperson, the victim was sent on an errand by her mother to disconnect electrical appliances from power supply as requested by one of her friends in the area, who was reportedly away from home.

Upon arrival at Jenda trading centre, the victim was called by Nyirongo, who happened to be their neighbor.

Chapola said the victim was puzzled to learn that no sooner had she arrived at the vehicle than she was dragged into it Wilima, appeared from the back seat of the motor vehicle and reportedly sealed her mouth with his palm before the first convict locked up the car doors and sped off into the forest where they took turns to defile her.

Senior Resident Magistrate Mathews Msiska beamoned that cases of defilement are becoming rampant in the country.

He then ruled that the two be jailed for twenty years.
