The excitement is palpable as the Malawi Schools Sports Association (MASSA) gears up for the highly anticipated national finals of the MASSA games. In an exclusive interview with the Avant Sports Desk, Association President Blackson Gerald Malamula assured the sports fraternity that all systems are go for the grand event.
Malamula emphasized that meticulous preparations have been underway to ensure a seamless and unforgettable championship. The national finals are slated to unfold in Lilongwe on the 28th of August at Bingu National Stadium with teams arriving on 27th, promising a showcase of extraordinary athletic prowess and fierce competition.
Anticipation is building as approximately 1200 participants from diverse sports disciplines are set to converge for the ultimate showdown. From track and field to team sports, these young athletes are primed to demonstrate their skills, determination, and sportsmanship on the grand stage.
Adding to the excitement, the General Secretary for North East Education Division (NEED) Wanangwa Kaira has also told Avant Sports Desk that they are hosting Division finals on the 21st and 22nd of August in Mzuzu..NEED which is comprised of Mzimba North, Mzuzu City, Nkhata-Bay, Likoma, Mzimba South
This year’s edition of the MASSA games has seen its fair share of challenges. Originally slated for July, the tournament encountered a minor setback due to a delay in government funds release. Nevertheless, the resilience and determination of all involved parties have ensured that the games will proceed, showcasing the unwavering spirit of Malawi’s young sporting talents.
As the clock ticks down to the 28th of August, the nation eagerly awaits the unfolding of the MASSA games’ national finals. An electrifying atmosphere, breathtaking displays of athleticism, and an indomitable sense of sportsmanship are all on the horizon, making this event a true celebration of sports excellence.
