The body of Peter Hapana Fachi who was the Malawi’s former Cabinet Minister, has been laid to rest with full military honours at HHI Cemetery in the Commercial city of Blantyre.
Minister of Information, Moses Kunkuyu, led the Malawians in paying the last respects at a ceremony which started with church services organised by CCAP Blantyre Synod where late Fachi was a devoted member.
The funeral ceremony was attended by Malawians from all walks of life, including politicians like Cabinet ministers, president of the United Democratic Front, Lilian Patel, Atupele Muluzi, members of Parliament for both the opposition and the ruling parties, Traditional leaders, among others.

In his eulogy, Kunkuyu who represented President Lazarus Chakwera at the ceremony said the president is saddened with the demise of Peter Hapana Fachi considering the contributions he made the nation.
“What Fachi had made is a history and it has gone with him. I urge each and everyone here to make your own history so that you may be recognised with it,” he concluded.
Speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, Matanda Fachi, daughter to the departed soul, thanked the government for the honour it has accorded their Late father thus with full military honours.

Born on June 6,1945, Fachi succumbed to stroke at Mwaiwathu private hospital the age of 78 and is survived by a wife and Four children.
