MALAWI NATIONAL LIBRARY STOP POLITICS!

6th November,2020 will go down to Malawian history as unforgettable day in sports especially football and literature fraternity as Chauncy Vinny Gondwe, one of the ever midfield maestro in Malawi launched his book titled the untold story of Malawian football.

The colourful launch was graced by minister of Sports,Hon Ulemu Msungama.

However, Chairperson of the organising committee,Mr Henry Gome did not mince his sadness on the absence of the Malawi National Library officials despite being invited.
“If an institution run by taxpayers money brings politics to a book launch of one of Malawian sons who has achieved a lot both within and outside and a darling to upcoming footballers, whose books would they like to promote.

“Aren’t the ones upbeat on promoting reading culture among Malawians,” he queries.

The book is a revelations of Gondwe’s high and lowest moments of life both on and off pitch.

His tale sees a footballer rises from rags to riches and from riches to rags.
“Many people says a lot about myself and other footballers especially aftermath of their careers but what happened to me is happening with today footballers.
“I have thought it wise to paint a picture for them at least not to travel the path I have travelled.
“Memories are still fresh when my mom cried upon seeing me when I returned from South Africa,” he explained.

Gondwe played for Bata Bullets(Nyasa Big Bullets) before he signed for Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.

According to Gondwe,Dr Lazarus Chakwera now President of Malawi played a fatherly role to bring him back to glorification of Jesus Christ after thirty years without setting his feet in church.

The Malawi leader bought 50 copies at K20,000-00.

“All the copies bought by HE Dr Chakwera will be given to Malawi National Library for upcoming generation to read and is one way of keeping history as well.
“Legends need to be recognized while still alive for them to appreciate,” explained Hon Ulemu Msungama.

Again,Gondwe expessed sadness for Nyasa Big Bullets officials’ absenteeism though the club bought one copy at K200,000-00.

Among other absentees was the Football Association to Malawi(FAM) officials.
