Dowa District residents under Thetsa Nkhaza Network took it to the streets marching against rising cases of gender based violence in the district.
The marching comes following recent incidents of gender based violence in the district in which three women aged between 17, 24 and 34 respectively were raped by a 34 year old man in the district.
The march as confirmed by Avant correspondent has been organized by the Girl Empowerment Network GENET through Spotlight Initiative in conjunction with department of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare in the district.
Apart from the march at the boma, similar marches are also taking place in areas of Traditional Chiwere and Mponela in the district.
Dowa District records numerous cases of gender based violence every year with some cases resulting to loss or malfunctioning of some body parts.
