People of Likoma District have to wait a bit longer to receive National Economic Empowerment Fund Limited (NEEF) loans due to extreme weather conditions that have affected the aviation sector.
Recently a plane failed to land in Mzuzu which was expected to carry money meant for loans of 55 groups in Likoma and Chizumulu Islands.
Confirming the development, Likoma District NEEF officer, Fred Kasokolo, said the plane failed to reach Mzuzu and airlift the money for disbursement in Likoma.

“Weather in Mzuzu is bad, a plane from Lilongwe failed to land and instead it has proceeded to Likoma and it landed some 45 minutes ago without cash.
“But it will fly out again to Mzuzu anytime the weather is confirmed safe for landing.” Said Kasokolo.
This is the first batch of money from NEEF meant for loans to groups in the Likoma District.
In recent weeks, Mzuzu has been experiencing extreme weather, a combination of frequent rains and foggy conditions.
