FORMER Editor In-Chief of Times group, George Kasakula has officially been appointed Director General (DG) of the tax funded Malawi Broadcasting Cooperation (MBC).
Kasakula will head MBC at a time people have lost trust in the state controlled broadcasting house.
His first assignment will be to convince the masses that indeed he is the new boss and that he is capable of changing things.
Time in history, MBC has been clapping hands for the government of the day, gurus at the broadcaster have been turned into party regional governors. They introduced hatred programs against opposition political parties.
Kasakula’s appointment whether it is original or that of appeasement the good thing is that he is qualified for the job and above all he has been attacking MBC’s technical know-how for a very long period our hope is that he will walk the talk.
The truth is that Kasakula has shown professionalism for the past years not that he was criticizing DPP led administration but he stood for the truth which the wrongdoers hate.
He is replacing the controversial Aubrey Sumbuleta who subjected himself into a party supporter who could hold an antenna at a rally while his boys are there, purely because he wanted to be spotted by the ruling elites, we hope Kasakula will not repeat these unprofessional behaviors.
Kasakula is a good man but history reminds us that good people change too. On whether he will make MBC to be the station of the people let us wait because it is only time that will tell. Anyway Congratulations George Kasakula.
