Three brothers from Kabwafu in Mzimba have been arrested for cultivating canabis sativa (Chamba) in their garden without permit.
Mzimba Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector John Nyirongo has confirmed the news to avantmalawi.
The police publicist said the incident happened on Wednesday at kabwafu in Mzimba district.
Kabwafu police received a tip from well wishers that a 43 year old John Botha, 39-year old Lackson Botha, and 34-year old Levison Botha cultivated cannabis sativa in their garden .
Police went to the garden and found the cannabis. Police uprooted 175 trees of the said cannabis and suspects were apprehended.
The suspects will appear in court soon to answer charges that will be leveled against them.
All suspects hail from Kanavichi village in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Mpherembe in Mzimba district.
