Reports from Kasungu are that the district is encountering water crisis, as a result most of the taps are dry making residents to cover a long distance in search of the precious liquid.
Lack of tap water is heavily affecting Kasungu’s central businesses Unit where dwellers from areas such as; Ma Yard, Chiteyeye, Juma and ma Plot are footing long distances to fetch clean water from rivers and boreholes as the only sources.
The Central Region Water Board’s spokesperson Zephilino Mitumba has requested for more time before commenting on the matter.

However, most residents have requested the water board to come to their rescue as life is becoming unbearable.
“Kasungu district has been heavily affected during dry season, always our taps run dry and this year’s scenario is awkward and unadaptable.” Commented a Mrs Nkhoma.
The data shows that Kasungu zone produces 4,500 cubic litres of water of the required 7,000 cubic litres from Chitete Dam which is Few kilometres from Kasungu township.
