RASTAFARIANS AIR THEIR HEARTS OUT TO THE MINISTRY OF CIVIC EDUCATION AND NATIONAL UNITY

Yesterday, the 9th of October. Hon Timothy Mtambo had an interface meeting with the Rastafarian community. Talking to avantmalawi Mr Mtambo’s personal assistant said this is one of the best encounters that will assist Malawians unify mainly in the religion arena.

The interface meeting took place in area 17 Lilongwe where their gathering site is situated.

Avant Malawi gathered that most of the issues which were covered, were concerns the Rastafarians has over their religion.

ISSUES TO DO WITH

1. Complained of access to education where their children are not allowed to attend school with dread locks, as they are forced to shave their hair.

2. Complained of appointments specifically board appointments that they are not included (cited of recent appointments by His Excellency Dr Lazarus McCathy Chakwera)

3. They also expressed concern over the composition of Public Affairs committee which does not have a representative of the Rastafarian community yet they are equally key aspect in religion.

The Rastafarian community lastly banked their  sincerely hope in the newly Tonse government for betterment, as they requested the Minister to extend their concerns to the current president.

Contrary to what Rastafarian community proposed commentators from various sectors had a query on the activeness of Rastas on National building.

One commentator had this to say. “they themselves do not show the clout. Apart from Ras Chikomeni, do we have another Rasta who competite on a vacancy as a president, Member of Parliament. If no, how can they be picked as patriotic. If yes, why were they denied?”
