Malawi’s president Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has been installed as the champion of Higher Education in Africa.

The ceremony took place at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe today morning.

Adipala Ekwamu who is the executive secretary for the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (Ruforum), said his body has chosen Chakwera because he champions education.

“We have recognized president Chakwera because he champions girls education in the country and that he has also contributed alot to the tertiary education in the country and across,” Said Ekwamu.

On his part the Malawi leader said Ruforum will sharpen tertiary education in Africa.

He therefore said that the Unima universities which have been delinked should be included in Ruforum.
