Police at Kawale, Lilongwe on Thursday, June 2, 2022 introduced a neighborhood watch within Area 23 with a call for active community policing teams to tame crime.
Speaking during the function held at Chiombamwala CCAP Church premises, (position), for Kawale Police Station, Senior Superintendent Tinyade Pahuwa said safety and security can only be achieved by having strong and active community policing structures in areas so that they work hand in hand with police.
On their part, patrons to the meeting who were led by Senior Chief Chiuzila commended the formation of the neighborhood watch saying it will help bring security around Chiuzila and surrounding areas.
Also speaking during the meeting, Reverand (first name) Mchika of Chiombamwala CCAP Church hailed the initiative and urged community members to utilise the opportunity. Reverand Mchika then asked the law enforcers to organise a special training session for watchmen around Chiuzila Market.
Traditional leaders, business gurus and the academia were some of those who attended the meeting.
