As the Minister of Homeland Security Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma looks sticky in his decision to relocate refugees to and asylum seekers to Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa district, Malawi Defence Force General Vincent Nundwe has applauded the minister for his decisiveness in handling the matter.
General Nundwe made the remarks today Friday at the Malawi Armed Forces College (MAFCO) during the commissioning of the parade of 81 officer cadets.
Nundwe said the citizenry must be patriotic enough in guarding against foreigners who are entering the country without proper procedures, hence possing threats to country’s security.
Nundwe added that responsible officers should protect the country by ensuring that foreign nationals are not entering the country using unchartered routes.
Nundwe then condemned the acts of unprocedural means for refugees and other foreigners to be accessing the country’s passports and national indentity cards.
Nundwe has since commended Homeland Security Minister Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma for the tremendous job he is doing in strengthening the country’s security by flushing out illigal immigrants.
” We have to commend the Minister of Homeland Security Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma for the relocation exercise of refugees and asylum seekers which he is championing at his Ministry.
It is very unfortunate that some unpatriotic Malawians are helping these refugees to acquire passports and national identity cards in a dubious manner.
Some of these people bring guns in the country which poses threats to our security,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nundwe has asked the citizenry to support Homeland Security minister in the relocation exercise of refugees and asylum seekers to Dzaleka Refugee Camp.
During the event, State President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera urged the newly commissioned officers to be dedicated in serving the country.
