Ministry of Education has warned that the law will take its course on school authorities who embezzle student’s examination fees for the forth coming Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) dxaminations.
The warning was issued on Thursday by Deputy Minister of Education, Nancy Chaola Mdooko when she visited Mzuzu Government Secondary School. She was in Mzuzu to appreciate the administration of the last paper of the Malawi Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examinations.
Mdooko added that this year’s JCE examinations have experienced less challenges.
She called upon students to have interest in elective subjects such as Clothing and Textiles, Woodwork, French and Home Economics, among others to enhance their skills.
Division Manager for the Northern Education Division, Jennings Kayira said teachers who embezzled examination fees in the region have been disciplined.
“Embezzling students’ examination fees is an act of misconduct in the Malawi Public Service Regulations and it is criminal in nature. As we speak, eleven students have been affected which is unfortunate. We have however ensured that the perpetrators are handed over to law enforcers,” he said.
