Preparations for the Northern Region Volleyball League (NRVL) elections have been finalised, with the electoral process scheduled for Saturday, 7 November 2026, at Grand Palace Hotel in Mzuzu.

Speaking to Avant Publications, Killy Msukwa, a member of the NRVL Ad-hoc Election Committee, confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth electoral process.

The Chairperson’s race is expected to attract attention as Khwima Chiumia and Jonas Chokoto go head-to-head for the top leadership position, while Catherine Nyamwela is the sole candidate for Vice Chairperson.

For the General Secretary position, Joseph Mphande and Philip Kaundeni will battle for the post. However, the position of Vice General Secretary has attracted no nomination.

Meanwhile, James Chinula is assured of the Treasurer General position after going unopposed, while the Publicity Secretary position has also received no nomination.

Those contesting for committee member positions include Aubrey Mpeyama, Cecilia Tembo, Allan Tigone Munthali and James Chinula.

Due to logistical challenges, approximately 10 affiliates from outside Mzuzu, excluding those from Nkhata Bay and Mzimba, are expected to cast their votes online.

The elections are expected to attract a total of 16 affiliates who will participate in choosing the league’s next leadership.
