NORTHERN REGION WOMEN’S LEAGUE SET FOR KICK-OFF

By Vinjeru Ngwira

Northern Region Women’s Football Committee General Secretary Daisy Botha has confirmed that the 2026 FAM Women’s Football League will kick off this weekend, with eight teams set to compete for regional honours.

Botha anticipates a more demanding campaign this season, particularly with the inclusion of three sides that were relegated from the NBM Women’s Premiership last season. The trio comprises Moyale Sisters, Topik Academy and MK Academy.

Their arrival is expected to raise the level of competition as the eight participating teams seek to establish themselves and compete for dominance in the regional women’s football league.

Meanwhile, Botha has expressed optimism about Rumphi Sisters’ prospects, believing the team could deliver an improved performance in the NBM Women’s Premiership following its previous campaign, during which it played only a limited number of matches.

She believes the experience gained from competing at the highest level will be important in shaping Rumphi Sisters’ progress as the team continues to build towards a stronger performance in future competitions.
