NRFA LAUDS CLUSTER PHASE.

The cluster phase of the Simso Mzuzu 12 Premier League has concluded, with the top eight teams advancing to the final stage. From the initial cluster rounds, only the best two teams from each cluster will proceed to the last phase.

The journey began on May 4, 2024, when Jenda United FC hosted Embangweni United FC in the opening game of the league, which was generously sponsored with K25 million.

Throughout the cluster stage, a total of 423 goals were scored across 336 matches played in the four clusters: A, B, C, and D. Each cluster featured seven teams, with only two from each advancing to the top eight phase. The teams finishing at the bottom of their clusters were relegated to Division 1.

Following the completion of the matches organized by the Northern Region Football Association, eight teams have qualified for the final stage: Ekwaiweni Tafika Sports Academy FC, Lube Masters FC, Chintheche United FC, Eagle Strikers FC, Jenda United FC, Raiply FC, Songwe Border United, and Chilumba Barracks FC.

In contrast, Mzuni FC, Euthini Pirates FC, Karonga Giants FC, and Simbowe All Stars FC have been relegated to Division 1.

Additionally, Ekwendeni Hardnockers FC, Chizumulu United FC, Sporting FC, and Chitipa Galaji FC will compete in the play-offs for a chance to join the top league.

Masiya Nyasulu, General Secretary of the Northern Region Football Association, expressed gratitude to the teams for their efforts during the cluster phase. He also expressed anticipation for an exciting final stage featuring the top eight teams.

Nyasulu noted that the cluster phase remained competitive, with teams vying for the top positions until the final day of matches.

The final phase of the league is set to commence on September 7, 2024. The winning team will earn promotion to the elite league of Malawi.
