As the campaign period for the 2025 tripartite elections draws near, an increasing number of musicians are aligning themselves with the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), either in pursuit of new opportunities or out of genuine support for the party.
Notably, Joseph Mkasa joined the MCP during its recent convention, while Skeffa Chimoto has announced his intention to run for a parliamentary seat on the MCP ticket.
Adding to the surprise, popular artist Dan Lufani recently took to Facebook to reveal his upcoming performance for the MCP this Saturday. Lufani, known for his previous support of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party under former President Arthur Peter Mutharika, has made a significant shift in his political allegiance.
These developments highlight a trend of musicians actively engaging in the political landscape as Malawi prepares for the elections.
