Kawale takes community policing blueprint to Kang’oma

After invading Areas 23 and 24 on Thursday, November 18, 2021 Kawale Police stormed Senior Chief Kawole under Traditional Authorities Tsabango sensitising communities on rule of law, respect of human rights, safety and security.

The Station Officer, Senior Superintendent Goodwin Chigalu Sambo, led the community policing team.

During the meeting the Station Officer, shared various tips to help villagers be alert and vigilant against devised tricks of criminals who run from township and seek refugee in villages.

A meeting which drew over 17 chiefs within Kang’oma and their subordinates was a fertile ground for the Station Officer to denounce contemporary issues that have compromised safety and security of people within Kang’oma.

The patronage itself made it easier for the team to leave the community policing blueprint and concept.

Chiefs were charged to have active community policing structures in their respective areas.

Sambo then expressed disappointment over acts of mob justice, murder, defilement, child marriages, attacks on people with albinism and gender based violence among other issues. He warned that the law will spare nobody if found on the wrong side of it.

He further charged chiefs to handle civil cases and refer criminal matters to the Police.

“No one is above the law; for everyone in conflict with the law will face the long arm of the law,” Sambo emphasized.

During the meeting, the station donated reflective vests, whistles, torches and button sticks to active community policing teams in the area.

Sub Inspector John Namowa, In-Charge of Kang’oma Police Unit hailed the chiefs for the support they render to the Police Unit and further lobbied for full support of villagers in curbing crime.

“We have created Kang’oma a free area together with you chiefs and I urge you chiefs to maintain the pace,” Namowa said.

Kawale Police through the community policing branch has lined up a number of programs aimed at revamping all structures that are paralyzed and train the members so that they get back on their knees and be effective again.
