Kawale Police rescues man from angry mob

Police in Kawale on July 16, 2021 rescued a 33 -year – old man from angry villagers who bayed for his blood .

The man identified as Mustafa Kudambo of Jimu Village in the area of Traditional Authority Khombedza in Salima.

Mustafa visited one of the business persons in Tambalare Area 23 as a customer who wanted to send money through mobile phone and ordered the shop owner to transfer money amounting to K180,000 into a phone number of his colleague without paying the money to the shop owner .

Immediately after completion of the transaction, Mustafa wanted to escape the place without paying the money.

Following this, the shop owner shouted for help which prompted angry villagers to descend on the suspect and planned to burn him alive.

After receiving the report from well wishers, Police rushed to the scene to rescue the man.

Currently, the man is in Police custody answering a case of theft which is contrary to Section 278 of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, Police appeal to the citizens to desist from taking the law into their own hands as it jeopardises investigations and justice administration
