The Presidential Taskforce on COVID – 19 says Malawi is within the next two weeks expected to receive various types of vaccine to help bolster the country’s response against the surging pandemic.
The announcement by Co – Chairperson for the Taskforce who is also Minister of Health Khumbize Chiponda comes a few days after the delayed arrival of about 200 thousand doses of Astrazenecca vaccine.
She was addressing Journalists on Friday evening in Lilongwe shortly after a closed door meeting by the Taskforce.
“Over the past 24 hours, we have registered 12 deaths, with 756 others testing positive for the coronavirus,” she said.
Chiponda who urged police officers to enforce strict adherence to COVID – 19 prevention measures has further disclosed that schools will remain open pointing out that positivity rate in schools remains below 3 percent.
