Kawale Police in Lilongwe have on August 15,2021 arrested a 41- year old man for found in possession of Indian hemp contrary to regulations 19 (1) and as it reads with section 4 (a) of dangerous drug act.
The suspect identified as Bornface Phiri was ferrying Indian hemp wrapped in a sack bag to defeat the searching ability of law enforcers.
The incident happened at winners ad hoc road block where the minbus that was coming from Kasungu heading the direction of Lilongwe was stopped by Kawale Patrol commander who was also the team leader .
Upon searching the vehicle it was discovered that the minbus had a sack bag containing indian hemp .
Further investigations revealed Phiri as the owner of the bag and arrest was made instantly.
This follows barely few days after Kawale Police devised intensive ad hdoc .
The suspect will appear in court soon to answer the charge levelled against him.
Phiri hails from Kasiya village in the area of Traditional Authority Wimbe in Kasungu District.
