Kabaza operators urged to observe traffic regulations

In a continued effort of reducing road accidents in the country, Kabanza Association of Malawi has urged Kabanza motorbike operators in Lumbadzi to adhere to all road traffic regulations and to ensure security measures whenever they are plying their business.

The call has been made on September 06, 2022 at Lumbadzi Police Station where the Association in conjunction with Lumbadzi Police Station interacted with about 50 representatives of Kabanza operators drawn from various areas under its jurisdiction.

Officer in-charge for Lumbadzi Police Station Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Mrs Micklina Medi made a stern warning that the law shall take its course to all violators of the road traffic regulations.

The OC further urged the operators to secure their property, their own lives and of the custome by reminding them that security should begin with them. “Be responsible by taking a leading role in safeguarding your own life as we (police) do our part on security provision,” said Mrs Medi.

Echoing the OC’s sentiments was Station Offiicer for Lumbadzi Police, Senior Superintendent Helbert Njolwa who encouraged the participants to follow all road traffic regulations by getting their motorcycles registered and insured.

Speaking during the meeting, Kabanza Association Secretary general for Kabanza Association of Malawi Ronald Matsimbe who was accompanied by chairperson Joseph Petro bemoaned the tendancy of some operators of not wearing crush helmets, carrying more than one pillion passenger at a time and carelessly driving as major some of the contributing factors of road accidents.

They association has further urged the operators to attend the meeting slated for this coming Thursday 08, 2022 at Kanengo Police Station.
