JETU RISE IN MUSIC INDUSTRY

Christina Malaya, popularly known as Jetu, a 71-year-old artist from Malawi, has made headlines with her Amapiano hit “CHAKWAZA,” which garnered 1 million views within a fortnight of its release. Known for her earlier hit “Wakalamba Wafuna,” Jetu has released three songs and has been in high demand, performing on various stages with numerous bookings.

This Saturday, Jetu is scheduled to perform at Robins Park in Blantyre. She will be joined by notable local artists, including Gwamba, Kell Kay, Zeze, and Malinga, at the City Heist music event organized by Charisma, who rose to fame with the song “Kubanda.” The event is being held in collaboration with the mobile phone company Tecno.

Former President Dr. Joyce Banda has praised Jetu for her unique style and haircut, expressing a desire to attend one of her shows. Additionally, Andrew Kavala, Chairperson of the Malawi Network of Older Persons (MANEPO), has shown interest in signing Jetu as an ambassador to advocate for the welfare of older persons.
