This happened uring the night of 26-27/11/2020 within Karonga township.
Karonga Police Station Box 22, Karonga reports in above case against (1) Patrick Gondwe 33yrs VGE: Gwebe, T/A: Kyungu, Dist: Karonga and (2) Donald Simbeye 27yrs)VGE: Liwelo,T/A: Mwawulambia, Dist: Chitipa who were found with the above type of firearm .
Facts are that the some Officers were on night patrol duties within Karonga township. In course of their duties they received an information that three unknown people were seen moving around in a suspicious way while carrying a bag and that they insisted to hire one motorcycle.
Acting no the information, the officers rushed and managed to arrest two of the three suspects and one managed to ran away. The bag was searched and the above type of riffle was found without a magazine. Follow up was made and it was discovered that the recovered riffle was from Ipyana PMS Camp which is in Karonga and was issued to a certain Police Officer with 20 rounds of live ammunitions who was assigned for other duties from 17:00hrs to 06:00hrs within the district. Meanwhile investigations are in progress to arrest the other suspect and recover the magazine.
