FEMALE MDF SOLDIER KILLED IN A DRC ATTACK

A Malawi Defense Force (MDF) Soldier, Lance Corporal Chitenje Kamanga aged 28 has been killed in an attack on a peace keeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Kamanga was in DRC under the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission.

According to MDF spokesperson Emmanuel Mlelemba, Kamanga was based at Maritime Force Headquarters in Mangochi Monkey-bay.

The fallen soldier was killed on Monday around 13:00 hours by unknown armed group.

“We have lost a dedicated and courageous female soldier. We greatly mourn the death of Lance Corporal Chitenje Kamanga,” Reads part of the statement.

The remains of Kamanga will be brought home after the completion of United Nations (UN) procedures.

Kamanga hailed from Mbayani village in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Machinjiri in Blantyre.
